Henry James on Italy (Selections from Italian Hours)

First thus.  224pp, with colour and black and white illustrations.  Brown cloth-covered boards overprinted with pictorial scene of Venice, gilt lettering front and spine.  Colour patterned endpapers.  There is a little chipping along the upper edge of the rear endpapers.  Gift inscription neatly inked opposite title page else volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. 

A nicely curated collection of essays capturing Henry James' impressions of Italy, originally written a hundred or so years ago, with first hand accounts of Rome, Venice, Milan, Naples, and Florence, accompanied by contemporary drawings and paintings of the Italian scenes James' captures.
